The changes to the National Minimum Wage minimum are now in effect. Check to see which Awards that apply to your business are impacted.
As previously advised, the National Minimum Wage increased on I July by 2.5% per cent to $20.33 per hour, $772.60 per week, for a full-time adult employee. As a result of this decision, Modern Awards have now been updated.
With the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the date of increase for employees covered by Modern Awards has been staggered across industry sectors.
For the vast majority of Awards, the minimum wage increase came into effect in the first pay period on or after 1 July 2021. General retail is delayed until the first full pay period on or after 1 September 2021. The remaining Awards, covering workers in the tourism, hospitality, restaurant, fitness, hair and beauty, and aviation sectors will increase on 1 November 2021.
